You are able to ask questions = use Google

Each of our interview begins not with our questions to you, but your questions to us. Why? Because if you know how to ask questions, it means that:

  • You know how to use Google;
  • You know how to learn.        

This means that with the right approach, you will be able to explore either programming on Ruby On Rails or even Kung Fu. Furthermore, the structure and the depth of your questions help us to quickly understand how much you have already managed to dive into the issue without our help.


You have an active Linkedin and you know how to use it

Typically, the most popular task for our interns – it is to pump your Linkedin account up to 500+ contacts. 1 week is given to finish this task. Not more. Why do we need it?

  • Firstly, Linkedin – is a tool №1 for business and sales. This is the basic method of work and communication of our sales department, marketing and professionals engaged in products and services;
  • Secondly, more than 15% of traffic we generate with social. accounts of our employees who work as marketing channels, even if they are not involved in the direct sales process;
  • For long term it helps to develop the individual brands of our employees and create a cumulative effect for Brand Awareness of our company.
You know at least 50% of the titles and names from the list below

Unfortunately, the markets of developing countries are far behind the USA and Western Europe by nearly 5 years in terms of marketing and Digital. So if you think you, that you know something about marketing, just throw it out of your head and start to learn from scratch.

The litmus test of erudition of new employees is to check the knowledge of the terms, company names and names of the industry. This test allows you quickly understand how you are immersed in the world business and marketing.

You have a great sense of humor and the ability to think imaginatively

During the interviews, we often ask to tell us an interesting joke. It is not because we arrange standup shows inside the company, but because it qualitatively describes your intellectual abilities.

We do not want to go deep into the study, however, in our experience, the presence of a sense of humor is an indicator of two things:

  • Having creative thinking;
  • The ability to think metaphorically and to actively use allusions;
  • Ability to generate ideas.

Too serious people, who can’t make jokes or just rely on facts, figures without involving imagination, in fact, turns out to be quasiintersections, who are not able to generate interesting ideas and valuable suggestions.

In our own practice, the best solutions are the consequences of the phrases and thoughts which, at first glance, sounded like a joke or utter nonsense.


You are Tech Savvy and are aware of technical innovations

It is about the involvement in modern technology and automation methods. The fact is that no matter where – in the sphere of entertainment, film, advertising, marketing, everywhere there is a transition from manual work to the use of services, platforms, and technologies. Therefore, if you do not use even 50% of the services below, it seems, WelkerMedia is not your company:

  • Google;
  • Linkedin;
  • Instagram;
  • Feedly;
  • Flipboard;
  • Evernote;
  • GetPocket;
  • Asana;
  • Confluence;
  • Uber;

In your Feedly there are more than 20 blogs and you read them every day

Education plays a very important role in WelkerMedia. Each of our employees is pre-trained with obtaining a significant amount of knowledge and information. However, any knowledge is rather quickly becoming outdated. Therefore, in order to continue to move forward with the rhythm of the industry, you should be able to learn on your own, studying the lists of blogs, media and ebooks in the Web.

For this purpose, we usually recommend to allocate time in the morning or in the evening. For example, 10-15 minutes, when you quickly look through and read what has happened in the industry. And if you also know how to do Content Curation, i.e. to publish found articles with the hot commentary in an attractive way, this is a big plus for you.

You have developed skills Self Awareness

We are all not perfect. Anybody can’t sell, anybody can’t speak in public, and anybody can’t write articles. This is quite normal. For this reason, we value in our team members sincerity, as well as the ability to recognize their own strengths and weaknesses. Unfortunately, without this, it is quite difficult to form a harmonious team.


You are a cosmopolitan and you think globally

WelkerMedia is an international team. Our main office is located in Santa Monica. Personnel – in the United States, Norway, Germany, China, Russia and 20 other different countries. Obviously, this involves a very cosmopolitan look at certain trends, economic phenomenas, new information, events, etc.

In addition, our team members usually have high interest in other cultures and the continuous exchange of experience. If you are close to it, you should certainly write to us.


You speak well in English, but better – in several languages

From the preceding paragraph it logically follows that your linguistic skills need to be at a high level. By the way, this requirement is necessary not only to those, who work on global projects, but also to the representatives of the Russian company. There are several reasons:

  • 50-60% of communication within the company, including in Russia takes place in English;
  • All training materials are in English;
  • You, anyway, will have to interact with our global partners and colleagues.
You can write an article for 2-3 hours

The ability to write characterizes not only copywriting skills, but also in general formulating thoughts into sentences. This is important not only for journalists and authors, but also for almost all staff who are involved in communication – in the form of letters, phone calls, meetings, etc.

So very often we give tasks to write articles of about 600-800 words. This test allows to quickly assess your competence, ability to think and articulate thoughts.


You know how to teach others and share knowledge

We do not conduct corporate trainings. We do not believe in the trainers and coaches. Education – this is part of the company culture. You have to learn every day on your own, constantly improving your professional level. In addition, you have to understand that knowledge –  is always the result of the exchange and communication with others. So within our company there is a constant exchange of interesting links, news, publications, which supports all participants in the pace of market development.


You are an excellent Employee Advocate

Employee Advocacy – is a relatively new phenomenon which characterizes the process of brand promotion through social employee accounts (Facebook, Linkedin, VK). It is important to note that this is not about advertising, but about organic involvement of employees in the company’s operations, which results in the posts and publications, for example, on Facebook.

For this reason, we pay serious attention to the evaluation of all your social accounts for the size of the community and your skills in communication and dialogue.
