Today brands are constantly collaborating with influencers to attract their audience. But this time Kanye West expressed his own wish to team up with such a massive budget brand like Ikea. It turned out the company is not so interested about this collaboration. But Ikea Australia found another way to catch everyone’s attention and to push a power of Internet memes.


Kanye West was thrilled about collaborating with Ikea

Apparently, Kanye West is desperately looking for collaborating possibilities. Actually, he uses the common for all people strategies like tweeting to the company about how awesome their brand is. So, in March he tweeted: “Super inspired by my visit to Ikea today, really amazing company… my mind is racing with the possibilities…” Kanye really was spotted quietly touring the Ikea headquarters in Sweden and made all people around and on the Internet freak out about it. Now we see that he got pretty inspired too, and decided to use this inspiration for business idea like he always does (his campaigns with Adidas and Balmain are really successful).

Actually, we understand him and see why he does that. Back in February Kanye tweeted: “I write this to you my brothers while still 53 million dollars in personal debt… Please pray we overcome… This is my true heart…” Apparently, the situation is really that bad, because Kanye already even tried to create something for Ikea collaboration and he did not stop there. On BBC Radio 1 he confessed: “I have to work with Ikea – make furniture for interior design, for architecture,” ”. By the way, he pointed out that student will be thrilled to have a room in a dorm designed by him.


Influencer is the key for brand success


Well, he must be right. Today influencer collaboration is a key to a stronger brand. But actually, nowadays youngsters favor social media stars much more than singers and actors. These social media celebrities have a massive followings and often make the biggest splash in the digital community. Being watched or followed by thousands (and even millions) of people provides influencers with countless opportunities in advertising and branding. For example, Forbes created a list of most successful brand collaborations with Vine influencers.

YouTube bloggers are also a growing power for any brand. Like, Fleur De Force, beauty blogger, who works with such companies like Starbucks, Coca-Cola, P&G. The thing about advertising from a blogger is that he has a credit from his audience. Fleur De Force’s ad video for Estee Lauder collaboration has 154,000 views and 99% positive response from viewers. Fashion and beauty bloggers are becoming more influential than professional journalists, like Chiarra Ferragni, fashion blogger with 6,4 million followers on Instagram, has made collaborations with Guess, Dior, Chanel and Max Mara.

Anyway, movie stars and singers are still powerful influencers. Getting back to Kanye West collaborations, they are always having an instant impact. His adidas campaign is a real success story, their first collection was sold out in high-end retailers across the globe.


Ikea Australia is a real troll

Apparently, Ikea was not so excited about Kanye West business proposition, because the company never responded. However, Ikea Australia had something to tell and the day after the BBC Radio 1 interview they posted on Facebook hilarious promising message to Kanye.

The bed designed by Ikea Australia has attachments for an endless number of other bedframes. For those of you who is not so Yeeze, we can explain, look more closely at Kanye’s new video “Famous” featuring with wax-made stars (including his his wife Kim, his “best friend” Taylor Swift and even Donald Trump) lying on the extremely large bed.

Let’s confess Ikea response is pretty funny especially with the featuring post: Hej Kanye, we’d love to see what you’d create… we could make you Famous!”. We reckon everybody was pleased with this joke even Kanye fans and of course himself (he loves Kanye anyway).

It turned that never-happening collaboration between Kanye and Ikea has become really popular on the Internet. Ikea joke generated hundreds of memes that made Kanye and Ikea Internet heroes for this month. Maybe they need to rethink idea about they collaboration, because after this their collection will be a blast.
