Internet activism exists in various shapes and forms. On the one hand – influencers, who construct ideal worlds. Their displayed lifestyles are from reality and make other humans feel inferior. On the other hand – activists, who are struggling to destroy those perfect images and fight against stereotypes. Anna Victoria `s Instagram profile combines both of those sides.

Fitness and proper nutrition turned into major trend several years ago. The accounts of fitness models – people, who have well-trained bodies, achieved through regular workouts and healthy nutrition, also started to gain popularity very quickly. Their social media profiles inspire many people all over the world. The subscribers compare the bodies they see online with that they actually have. As a result, perfect bodies bring not only motivation, but also frustration.

Remember the previous story about bloggers, who fought perfect parenting standards on Instagram? So, here`s another one. But this time the main focus will be on stunning bodies, good and bad angles and imperfections.

Fitness Models Reveal How Their Bodies Really Look Like

Good and bad angles

Anna Victoria, fitness model and trainer, became an Internet star right after posting shocking photos of what her body really looks like. She decided to reveal the truth in her pre-wedding selfies. On the first photo we see her perfect toned body, that definetely deserves admiration. But the second photo reveals what her stomach looks like when she is not posing for selfies. At first sight, it seems like these are two different women. It`s hard to believe that another selfie, showing stomach with rolls and folds really belongs to fitness trainer. Nevertheless, both of these photos were taken in one day – only with 2 minute interval!

By her example Anna Victoria demonstrated that everyone has good and bad angles. “Why do we let our bad angles carry so much more weight than our good angles?” – the model asks. Skinny and toned bodies on Instagram shouldn`t make one feel vulnerable as  photos don`t always reflect reality. She wanted people to understand, that any kind of imperfections don`t make us ugly. Nobody`s perfect and it`s okay. In the caption to photos Anna wrote, that she made these photos in order two show that skin folds and “rolls” on the stomach “is not anything to hate or be ashamed of”.

She also raised urgent topic of society that sets unachievable standards.  We disgustedly look at our bodies just because the society formed the idea of perfection in our minds. Anna Victoria invites us to abandon silly concepts of perfection.

“Your stomach does not have to be perfectly flat to be healthy, your stomach does not have to be perfectly flat for you to love yourself. And your stomach does not have to be perfectly flat to be confident and beautiful and an all around amazing person. As a society, we shouldn’t let physical characteristics set the standard for whether we deserve to love ourselves or not. Everyone deserves to love himself or herself. However I know that’s easier said than done”, – she says.

Going viral

Anna showed her “bad angle” to her 1 300 000 subscribers. Surprisingly, other influencers in fitness industry supported her idea and also shared their imperfections.

The photos got lots of positive feedback from the Internet users:

I am impressed that ladies, who spend a lot of time “perfecting” are willing to show this. Beautiful. Thank you! It makes me feel SO much better!

I needed to read this today . I’ve been feeling really frustrated with the way that by body looks. But it’s nice to know that my body looks just like a human body

I feel so much better now

Anna`s “before and after” photo shoot was featured in different media sources: press, creative blogs and social media. The reason why these selfies went viral is that people are tired of perfect images. So, Anna Victoria showed them what they wanted to see. This is the inspiring example of how to motivate social media users and win the audience (simultaneously 🙂 ).

Instant transformations

This so to say “getting real” trend on Instagram started approximately 4 years ago. In 2013, for example, Andrew Dixon wrote an honest material for The Huffingon Post. There he showed “before and after” pictures of his one day transformation. He revealed that he achieved flawless “after” picture using various methods, such as sucking in, flexing and finding better lightning. So, he`d once again proven that Instagram selfies are not as truthful as we think.

Several years later fitness bloggers Jess and Sophie Kay explained how to reach perfect bodies in 10 minutes.

Sophie even revealed secret lifehacks on better posing and provided the article with examples. On one of the photos her stomach looks plumped and the bikini bottom adjusted so we could see the layer of fat. The second one shows her better body.

So, as we can see, more and more social media stars prefer getting closer to real people, revealing their own imperfections. Their truthful selfies prove that perfect life on Instagram sometimes is not the result of big effort – the key thing is the right angles. But we all deserve to be loved regardless of the bad ones.
